As you’re counting down the weeks until your baby is due, your mind will turn to packing your hospital bag, as as your due date gets closer it is definitely a good idea to have your hospital bag packed and ready to go at the drop of a hat, or ‘drop’ of water perhaps ;) We have rounded out our hospital bag essentials to help you with tick off your to do list before your baby arrives.
First things first, you’re going to need a bag! We absolutely love the Babymel Stef Vegan Leather Baby Bag (available in black or tan) as it’s the perfect hospital bag and definitely a fabulous nappy bag post birth because it is so spacious. The centre of the bag features a large packing space with a change mat, a number of internal pockets and there's a separate waterproof bag, perfect to be used as a toiletries bag! It has a long, detachable shoulder strap which can also be worn across your body, as well as two shorter shoulder straps.
Definitely recommend a super comfy nursing crop! The super soft seamless nursing crop from Cadenshae is a perfect choice as it’s comfortable enough to wear while you sleep, has easy feeding access and provides gentle support. When your milk comes in and your boobs are sore and swollen, this crop is going to feel like a life saver. It has removable padding which you can take out and replace with reusable bamboo nursing pads (which are another must have on our list). The softest and most luxurious Nursing Pads from VIXA are made from a Bamboo/Spandex blend and are extremely absorbent for when all that milk starts leaking.
A crowd favourite (and if you ask us a MUST HAVE) is a Mummy and Me range bundle from All4Ella. Not only will you get that gorgeous matchy matchy photo when bub arrives, but you will love having the super soft and so comfy robe for yourself in hospital. The robe is light, stretchy and makes for easy feeding access, whilst also looking super glam. The bundle includes the Mummy Robe Cardi, knotted onesie for baby, baby beanie or top knot headband and a swaddle blanket and comes in your choice of designs; leopard print, floral or navy stripe.
It is so nice to have your own things in hospital, and the same goes for your baby. You really can never have enough swaddle blankets! Our picks are the swaddle blankets from Rapt by Bellies & Beyond, they’re super soft and the ultimate in quality made from 100% bamboo. If you know you’re having a boy, or a girl, you can go for the 2 pack in either pink and leopard print, or blue and ink spots. There’s a whole range of colours and prints to choose from, definitely worth stocking up on as you will use them on the daily!
Aside from announcing your baby’s arrival in your gorgeous matching outfits, it is so lovely to have milestone cards. A beautiful way to record all of your baby's milestones! Created for you to use as your baby grows and experiences all those little things for the very first time in their lives. Take a photo of your little babe next to each milestone for keepsake purposes and remember those special moments forever! The all important first milestone is your previous bundle arriving into the world.
If you ever want to take off your Mummy and Me range robe, then you’ll want to have something comfortable and feeding friendly to put on. Oh, and you’ll want clothes to wear home from hospital. The beautiful grey nursing tee from Maze Activewear is a great option for cooler weather, built-in zips for easy breastfeeding access, maximum ventilation meshing, advanced moisture absorption and a beautiful soft material to ensure your comfort. Or for warmer weather we love the Henley Short Sleeve Asymmetrical Nursing Tee from For Mae, in 100% cotton with horizontal invisible two-way zippers for easy breastfeeding access and an asymmetrical hem that lengthens the body for a flattering look, so you’ll feel a little bit more glamorous postpartum. The Cadenshae Full Length Pregnancy & Postpartum maternity leggings are the perfect option for wearing after birth, featuring a high waistband that can be worn over the tummy in postpartum, or folded down for extra support. These will have you feeling support in all the right places. An absolute must-have for any mum.The waist line has been specially designed to scoop low so it doesn’t irritate a scar if you’ve had a c-section.
Snacks, hydration and toiletries are all essentials! We absolutely love the Gilly Goat range of skincare for babies, and would highly recommend Mums use these products too, especially in the early days with a newborn when they’re having lots of skin to skin time with Mum, you’re going to want to make sure you’re using all natural products on your own skin! Pack the Gilly Goat Gentle Baby Hair & Body Wash and Gilly Goat Soft Baby Moisturising Lotion in your toiletries bag for yourself to use for that blissful post birth shower.
Sending you positive and peaceful vibes for the remainder of your pregnancy and the birth of your baby. As always, if you need any advice on products for yourself or your baby, please reach out!
